About the opportunity Bourke is 370 kilometres northwest of Dubbo and 136 kilometres south of the Queensland border, situated on the banks of the beautiful Darling River. Bourke has a population of just under 2000 people which comprises 38 per cent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, substantially higher than the state average of 2.9 per cent making Bourke a unique and rewarding place to work.
The Bourke Multipurpose Service (MPS) has 35 beds, 15 of which are residential aged care. The facility has 24-hour emergency care, acute and sub-acute/non-acute services including rehabilitation and palliative care, ante-natal and post-natal services, elective surgical services, ambulatory care, renal, outpatient and visiting specialist services and a range of primary and community health services including child and family health and mental health, drug and alcohol services. The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team providing nursing care to patients/clients of the health service.
The position will lead, direct and supervise other nurses and care roles in the team, such as Enrolled Nurses (EN), Assistants in Nursing (AIN) and student Registered Nurses (RN), to support quality care for patients/clients.
