Aviation Technical/Contract Liaison Officer
The key duties of the position include About us: - The role of Air Force Training Group (AFTG) is to provide essential, effective and efficient education and training to meet Air Force needs. Air Academy (AirA) is established to deliver the air component of the AFTG mission. Located at RAAF Base East Sale, 32 Squadron (32SQN) operates within AirA and is an operational flying Unit which supports the training of Mission Aircrew and Aviation Warfare Officers for the Australian Defence Force and provides airlift capability.
About the role: - In this role you will facilitate communication between 32SQN, the aircraft maintenance contractor and the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group on matters relating to B300 Super King air fleet management and contractor performance and compliance. You will provide advice to 32SQN on maintenance contract and aircraft technical matters and conduct support Aviation and Safety investigations. As the Unit Safety Advisor you will ensure WHS legislative obligations are met, safety related investigations are reported through the appropriate Safety Management Systems and unit personnel are briefed on aircraft technical and ground safety matters.
You will also perform the role of Hazardous Chemicals Safety Advisor. About you: - This role is suited to someone who has substantial aviation technical experience, ideally in a Defence aviation engineering or technical environment. You will also have an understanding of Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) requirements and aviation maintenance contract management and contract performance frameworks.
You will be able to understand, interpret, analyse and discuss technical and safety issues. We are looking for someone experienced in stakeholder engagement who will interface between senior military executives and contractors. You will be able to manage multiple competing priorities and work in a face paced and pressured environment to ensure capability requirements are maintained.
You will have tertiary qualifications in Aero skills (Structures/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Avionics). If you do not hold the Certificate IV in WHS will be required to obtain it within a reasonable time frame.
