Manager, Research Infrastructure and Biosafety HEW 9, $111,591 - $116,101 per annum 17% employer superannuation contribution. This is a full time (36.75 hours per week) continuing appointment.
Apply vision and project management skills to facilitate a strategic approach to research infrastructure development at Victoria University Develop strong internal and external relations to support the University’s biosafety program The position is located at our Footscray Park Campus, and will involve travel to other campus locations. About the role The position is responsible for developing, managing and overseeing a centralised and coordinated approach to research infrastructure and biosafety operations, policy and processes at Victoria University. While serving as the subject matter expert on biosafety issues to ensure legislative compliance across the University’s research and teaching laboratories, you will also drive a strategic and operational approach to research infrastructure development.
This will involve providing high level advice to VU Research Executives on strategies, policies and procedures to improve coherence and consolidation of the University’s research infrastructure, as well as strong stakeholder and project management skills to operationalise approaches to research infrastructure management. About the person You will have knowledge and understanding of the operations of research infrastructure as well as knowledge of regulatory and compliance obligations for biological safety within laboratory environments. In addition, you will possess excellent project management skills, a track record of effective team management, demonstrated capacity to build successful operational and policy frameworks, and must be able to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior officers of the University and external agencies.
Duties Duties will include: Conducting needs assessments, co-developing and implementing strategic plans for the development of research facilities and infrastructure Working with Technical Services and OHS teams to ensure research operations and facilities management meet best practice standards Maintaining a training program for University staff, students, visitors and contractors working with containment facilities or with GMOs, quarantine materials, Risk Group Biological Agents, or biologicals of Biosecurity concern.
