Job Title : Senior Project Officer, Planning Job Grade / Classification: Environment Officer Class 10 Employment Type: Temporary (Maternity Cover) Duration: Up to 12 months Location: Parramatta • Do you have sound knowledge and experience in strategic planning and environmental impact assessment? • Are you keen to work in a team committed to conserving biodiversity and contributing to a sustainable and liveable Sydney? About the Role: Lead the evaluation of major projects and planning proposals against NSW Government initiatives, legislation and policy to advance environmental conservation, sustainability and Aboriginal cultural heritage outcomes and provide advice to the State and Local Government. The role also undertakes major and more technically complex tasks within the Team and provides direction and expert advice to other staff. Essential requirements: • Strong knowledge of relevant environmental planning and conservation legislation.
• Experience in implementing legislation, policy and procedures in relation to environment, conservation and/or Aboriginal heritage protection, with an understanding of the workings of government at a state and local level. • Current Australian driver’s licence. To be successful in the role, ideally you will have: A degree in environmental, urban or regional planning or equivalent.
Experience working in local or state government. Agency overview The Planning, Industry and Environment Cluster brings together the functions from the former Planning & Environment and Industry Clusters. The new Cluster will drive for greater levels of integration and efficiency across key areas such as long term planning, precincts, housing, property, infrastructure priorities, open space, the environment, our natural resources – land, water, mining – energy, and growing our industries.
In particular, there will be a redoubling of emphasis on regional NSW.
