The PS&D function brings together decision evaluation, business development, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), corporate planning and strategy work into one team.

Resources within the PS&D team work in a global ‘pool’ and move between areas, balancing individual career aspirations and business priorities. About the role We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team in the Melbourne Office. You will primarily assist the M&A team in executing highly strategic and value-enhancing acquisitions, divestments and other M&A related transactions in a timely and efficient manner, on behalf of the BHP group.

The role will also involve working on business development initiatives assessing potential opportunities for transactions and building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Working either independently or in cross-functional project, planning or transaction teams, you will influence thinking, manage internal teams and external advisors and prepare high impact and concisely written reports, internal memoranda and presentations to provide insights to senior management, Directors and other relevant stakeholders and to assist with decision making. The role offers strong development prospects beyond M&A activities.

As a key member of the PS&D resource pool and having regards to your preferences, you may also be assigned at times to other projects activities core to PS&D and directed at framing analysis, evaluating strategic options and informing recommendations for critical business decisions. About you You are likely to have completed a finance, economics, business, law and/or engineering related undergraduate degree and have at least 5 years of relevant transaction experience gained at an investment bank, strategy consulting firm or major relevant industry player. Broadening postgraduate qualification and international experience are not necessary but will be viewed favorably.

Experience within the resources industry is desirable but not essential. Leadership will be a key part of your background,.
