Procurement and Contracts Lead Reporting to the Manager Commercial and Contracts, the Procurement and Contracts Lead will be responsible for leading the procurement and contracts function within the Major Projects Group. The Major Projects is a newly established group responsible for the investment planning and delivery of a $Billion program of works over the next 5 years, which includes a range of high value and high complexity projects to meet water security, dam safety and flood resilience demands. The group comprises of dynamic multidisciplinary teams that will set and implement the strategy and framework for planning and delivery of Seqwater’s high value capital projects across the bulk water supply network.
This position will see you responsible for leading a team of specialist procurement and contract advisors, providing strategic procurement advice and support to the delivery of major water infrastructure projects, in a manner that is consistent with organisational policies and procedures. You will also lead a program of continuous improvement as it relates to procurement and contract development and management related to major infrastructure projects. This is a full time temp position that is available through to the end of June 2024.

au About you To set you up for success in this role you will have: A degree in Business, procurement, law or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the selection, preparation and execution of a range of commercial agreements (design, consultancy, construction). Minimum 5 years’ experience leading and managing a multi-skilled professional commercial team in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication skills, time management skills and attention to detail will be integral to this role as well as the ability to manage complex issues and competing priorities within timeframes. Demonstrated understanding of contracting / purchasing principles, acts and legislation relative to commercial agreements, vendors and the management, selection and vetting of suppliers. Significant experience in infrastructure procurement, including strategic sourcing, developing procurement strategies, designing and improving procurement processes, contract drafting and negotiations, contract formation, contract management spend analysis and executive level reporting.
