Associate Sterilizing Services Manager
Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Instrument Technician to join our Central Serializing Services Department.
Associate Sterilizing Services Manager Permanent Full Position (Classification Administrative Officer Grade 4) The Austin Health Sterilizing Services Department (CSSD) engages in all aspects of decontamination, packaging, sterilizing and storage of re-usable medical devices. This position is to provide direct coordination and leadership to staff within the Sterilizing Services and manages the daily relationships with the Operating Suite and other significant service users. To be successful in this role you must demonstrate Essential Knowledge and skills: • Certificate IV in Sterilizing Services • Post graduate certificate in management or leadership (or working towards) • Minimum 10 years’ experience in sterilizing services with at least 3 years in management /supervisory role within a medium to large hospital.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills with a proven track record of effective people management. • Working knowledge of relevant standards related to sterilising services (AS/NZS Standard 4187-2014 and the GENSA standard). • Hold current membership to special interest group (SRACA, GENCA) • Commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
• Ability to problem solve in a variety of complex situations • Ability to inspire the team to superior levels of performance and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing education and development. • Excellent time management and organisational skill • Relevant computer skills. • Ability to assist and support the implementation of quality and change management initiatives.
