Student Advocacy Officer
Our client, Swinburne University has an exciting opportunity in the Student Life Department for a Student Advocacy Officer. The Advocacy Officer operates under the direction of the Advocacy Team Leader and is responsible for supporting the achievement of Swinburne Student Life's values, mission and goals. The role of the Advocacy Officer is to conduct all the administrative and operational aspects of the Advocacy service for Swinburne Student Life including promotion and delivering of quality student experiences in Advocacy.
The Advocacy Officer will demonstrate strong leadership, knowledge and experience with the ability to make a valued contribution to the team within the respective service area. Key Responsibilities Provide independent advice, support, liaison and assistance to Swinburne University students and other stakeholders as necessary Support, foster and grow student experiences Deliver outstanding customer service to Swinburne University students and stakeholders Keep abreast of Swinburne University regulations, policy and procedures, and work in conjunction with other staff and student representatives in responding to proposed changes Planning, development and implementation of student programs and workshops, liaising with other relevant departments Undertake research on student issues, and facilitate the student perspective on University and government policy development as it impacts on students Support Student Life to deliver continuous improvement and digital innovation Undertake relevant administrative tasks as required Undertake all required risk assessments and OH&S procedures for all activities Key Selection Criteria Exceptional written communication skills (high level of grammar and comprehension) High level critical thinking and problem solving skills Must have a relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience Demonstrated relevant experience in advocacy and/or the interpretation and implementation of policy, procedure and regulation. Demonstrated ability and capacity to contribute to the development of a positive and co-operative team environment Demonstrated planning and organisational skills and the ability to be able to effectively manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines Prior experience and knowledge of the University sector is highly desirable Must hold a valid working with children's check card Location This position is required to work across all Swinburne University campuses, and must be willing to travel between campuses and work at a range of locations.
