Vocational Instructor (Maintenance) , Youth Justice

For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems. Youth Justice supervises and cares for young offenders in the community and in detention centres in NSW. The division provides diversionary and community-based services, as well as custodial services in detention centres for young people on remand and on control order About the role Develop and deliver vocational programs for young persons in custody within Youth Justice Centres.
Each program should be industry based to equip each young person for future employment. These programs should be in accordance with the units program and reflect its aims, objectives and procedures. Essential Requirements • Relevant Trade Certificate and Train Small Groups qualification or equivalent plus relevant experience.
• Experience in supervision and counselling of Juveniles and experience in program development, implementation and modification. • Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances. If successful in this role you will be required to provide a Working with Children Check clearance number prior to commencing in the role.
