You will be working in a regional health service and rostered across two hospitals that service a population of 116,000. It is anticipated you will have significant involvement in the delivery of the Undergraduate education program with the Rural Clinical School and you will have the opportunity to be appointed to a University academic position.

The seniority of the University appointment would be negotiated separately with the University. You will foster collegiate relationships across the hospital departments and will find a real sense of camaraderie here. The Mental Health Service The Mental Health Service incorporates Inpatient Mental Health, Adult Community Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health and Crisis and Assessment Treatment Team Mental Health Services. The Inpatient service has 19 inpatient beds inclusive of a 3 bedded High Care Unit.

The unit predominantly caters to adult clients with serious mental illness but also supports clients from the Older Persons Mental Health Service and occasionally adolescents. The Inpatient team also provides a Consultation Liaison service to the general wards and occasionally the Emergency Department. Adult Community Mental Health provides an Outpatient Consultancy service to two areas located approximately 50 minutes apart.

Crisis and Assessment Treatment Team Mental Health Services attend service at two hospitals located approximately 50 minutes apart. You will be working alongside over 1,200 full time equivalent staff in multidisciplinary teams across two acute hospitals, three district hospitals and seven community health centres. The Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania is located on campus and the Tasmanian Health Service participates in a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program with the Rural Clinical School.
