Lead Mechanical Designer
The Lead Mechanical Designer role is responsible for leading the design of projects, creating and coordinating 3D models and manufacturing drawings. This role will largely support the Milmeq chilling and freezing products from agreed sales drawings and specifications through the project lifecycle. Additionally, this role will undertake design within project budgets and develop and implement improved systems and processes in line with the Engineering team.

Description The primary functions of the Lead Mechanical Designer incorporates two key areas: Mechanical Design Lead the allocation of work packages to the mechanical design team Lead development of 3D model designs for assigned projects and/or work packages within project specifications Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, arrangement drawings, part drawings, dxf files and materials take-off lists whilst considering correct drafting practices Consider and incorporate manufacturing and assembly processes into designs Mentor and train junior designers Operate to required product standards, within time constraints imposed by the Project schedule and as required by quality assurance policies Ensure the design is fit for purpose and aligns with the project GA drawing, product specification as sold and basis of design Provide design input into the preparation of quotations and tender documents Propose automated solutions and customised interfaces to reduce project lifecycle time and/or increase efficiency Project Team Design Contribution Coordinate assembly of overall project design model to the required specification Participate in project related design reviews throughout the project lifecycle Lead and contribute to the implementation of improvements to the mechanical design and engineering process aligned with the project team Coordinate and provide guidance to any subcontract engineers and designers Review and approve drawings undertaken by others in accordance with company process Maintain a commercial and business like relationship with sub-contractors and suppliers Profile Minimum of 7 years Mechanical Design relevant working experience Tertiary qualification in Me....
