The Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Harm Minimisation Unit (AOD PHM) aims to keep people healthy by preventing misuse, minimising harm, and reducing the health, social and economic impact of alcohol and other drugs on individuals, families and community.
The AOD PHM: Develops, implements, evaluates and reports on state-wide universal and targeted prevention and harm minimisation interventions, policies, programs and research; Is the NSW Government core source of evidence-based information, education and advice on referrals for alcohol and other drugs; and Works with the community, health sector, and other sectors and agencies to advance alcohol and other drugs prevention and harm minimisation. The Unit sits within the Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch of the Centre for Population Health, NSW Ministry of Health and is hosted by South East Sydney Local Health District. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the research and evaluation of alcohol and other drugs population health programs and manage the AOD Evaluation Intervention Innovation Fund (EIIF) Grants Program.
