But for many Submariners, there's no place they'd rather work. As a Chef Submariner your main responsibility will be to prepare and serve meals for Navy personnel. High standards are essential and you'll be expertly trained in every aspect of nutrition, food preparation and running a kitchen (we call them 'galleys' in the Navy).
Your duties will also include: menu planning calculating the volume of provisions required compiling provision orders operating and maintaining hygiene of galley equipment All Submariners are expected to multitask, so your job will have many fulfilling extra dimensions as you carry out general seamanship duties including: medical emergency team duty joining stores parties joining boarding parties whole ship duties including helming, and ceremonial duties.
