This is a special measure under section 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) Maximum term (until 31 December 2020) Part-time position (30.4 hours per week) Based in Cairns, QLD Who we are Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation.

About the Role You will be working with community members of all ages to provide direct client focus service delivery at both Manoora and Mooroobool Community Centres. The position will support the Australian Red Cross Cairns Community team to ensure that community members are referred to the most appropriate service/s for their identified needs, taking into account their individual circumstances and the service resources available.

Service users will benefit from this role’s demonstrated experience in supporting initiatives with the ability to foster social connectedness and collaboration as it performs all aspects of the role within a humanitarian and client focused way. What you will bring Knowledge of and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities Demonstrated experience working with children in a community services context Demonstrated experience in supporting human services projects and supporting stakeholder engagement with Elders and other relevant agencies and community members as appropriate Ability to support risk mitigation strategies and contribute to maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment Capable of providing input into the analysis of complex situations/problems and assist in the development of logical and achievable solutions, and demonstrated ability to negotiate the cultural context of situations Good communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and establish positive and constructive relationships with potential partners, community members, Red Cross staff and other key stakeholders from a range of cultural backgrounds.
