Portfolio Analyst, Private Markets (Private Capital)
About the Role As the Portfolio Analyst, Private Markets (Private Capital) you will work with members of the Investment Strategy Private Markets team, other colleagues at Sunsuper and external advisors to provide advanced analytical support for the development and implementation of Sunsuperâ€™s ongoing Private Markets investment program of Property, Infrastructure and Private Capital, with a primary focus on the Private Capital asset class. In this role you will be responsible for: Supporting the development of the investment strategies for nominated portfolios of Private Markets investments that consider objectives and the cash flow characteristics of the Fund. Establishing effective working relationships with managers, advisors, and co-investors to Sunsuper.
Maintaining records of interactions with consultants, managers, co-investors and other existing and potential service providers to Sunsuper. Supporting the identification and negotiation of the acquisition or disposal of appropriate investments to fulfill agreed investment strategies in Private Markets including fund investments, co-investment transactions, and some direct investments. Assisting in the developing and negotiating of key commercial issues and outcomes required for investment manager mandates, term sheets and legal documentation with counterparties.
Collecting information from diverse sources and using this to draw sensible conclusions, recommendations and preparing the presentation of the same. Providing support in the preparation of investment recommendations and other internal reports and presentations. Assisting in the monitoring and reporting on the status of existing assets, across the Private Markets asset classes.
Reporting on portfolio structure and performance and identifying areas that may indicate the need to change objectives and strategies. Contributing to and assisting as required in all areas of Sunsuper. Representing Sunsuper at relevant industry events, with the approval of their manager.
Establishing a network and having productive relationships with industry colleagues. Providing meaningful estimates of returns and fees for incorporation in asset models. Assisting as required to ensure consistency and accuracy of manager and custodian data for returns and risk measures.
Assisting as required to ensure unit pricing reflects actual performance. About You To ensure success you will possess: Tertiary qualification, preferably in finance, accounting, economics, commerce, law, mathematics or a related discipline. Demonstrates high familiarisation with the market environment.
Applies effective written, verbal, and presentation skills. Organises own activities to meet goals. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
Advanced Excel skills. Proficiency in other relevant financial software. Applies sound analytical and modelling techniques.
