Welcome to our Special Journey At Pak Gallery cafÃ© and restaurant, we aim to serve traditional Pakistani dishes selected from both Dum Pukht and Mughliai cuisines. We offer Ala-Carte and Buffet menus. We are looking an experienced Pakistani Cook/Chef who has the required expertise and necessary skills in preparing the traditional Pakistani dishes from both the Dum Pukht and Mughliai cuisines.
The aim is to showcase Pakistani food and its culture to the visitors and customers of Pak Gallery in Australia. THE ROLE: This is an active and hands on position that requires a responsible person. Our successful Pakistani Cook/Chef will be in charge of organising the seasonal menu, as well as preparing, cooking, prioritising, and garnishing of all the dishes in the seasonal menu selected from both the Dum Pukht and Mughliai cuisines.
You will report daily to the cafÃ© and restaurant manager at the Pak Gallery. In this role, you will be required to manage a multilingual team of people from different cultures and backgrounds. Your skills in team building [in a socially responsible manner] will be vital.
Tasks Include, but not limited to: Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus [seasonal], taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs. Inspect different kitchen areas [all the time], including food preparation, cooking and dishwashing, to ensure safe and healthy food-handling practices. Estimate expected food consumption [daily], then procure food from storage or prepare requisition to purchase supplies [at least a week in advance].
Use accurate quantities of all the ingredients according to the traditional recipes [or personal judgement in your own signature dishes] using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Wash and clean fruits, vegetables, lentils, meat, fish and salad separately to prepare them for consumption in cafÃ© and restaurant kitchen. Make chapati [Pakistani style bread], and different types of naans in Tandoori oven.
Prepare chutneys, dips and salads ready for serving. Cook foods according to the recipes; and observe and test foods at each cooking stage to determine if they have been cooked properly. Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff, as well as substitute or assist them during emergencies and/or rush hours.
Portion, arrange, and garnish the food, and serve dishes to waiters [or customers, if needed]. Make sure dirty dishes and kitchen utensils are hygienically cleaned after each meal or cooking session. Take leadership in selecting, training and supervising other kitchen staff.
