Department Manager / Leader - Civil (Bridges) Construction
About the Company Our client is an international, award-winning, national contractor, and subcontractor, providing specialist services to the civil infrastructure sector. Due to continued success, they are now looking to move the business forward with a dynamic, and ambitious, leader; who can bring fresh ideas, and drive, to an already established business with outstanding potential; specifically in their national offering of structures, particularly bridges . With a steady portfolio of clients, and work in hand, we are seeking expressions of interest from dynamic leaders, department managers, unit managers, and project directors capable of a national position, to play an integral role in the growth and development of a well-known and established brand in the Australian civil construction sector.

About the Role While the role has a national remit, day to day you will be based out of the Sydney head office location. There will be an expectation to relocate for this opportunity if you are not Sydney based; a relocation package may be available, and is negotiable, for the right individual.
Reporting into the Managing Director, responsibilities will include: Direct, plan and lead the contracting business with a focus on growth and commercial performance Financial responsibility overseeing the P&L as well as involvement in future tenders and bids Leading, coaching, developing and continuing to engage the civil construction team A focus on the implementation of support systems to drive the sustainability and consistency across all projects Ability to utilise existing relationships to help identify new opportunities within infrastructure markets and a focus on the capability development, expansion and growth of the civil contracting business. About You Attributes in order to be successfully shortlisted: Tertiary Qualified, (Civil/ Structural Engineering) Minimum of 15 - 20 years' experience within Australian civil infrastructure sector You will have a strong understanding of bridge building techniques and technologies Extensive network of relationships within tier 1 and tier contractors and consultancies Extensive experience working for civil contractors, ideally in a subcontractor environment Demonstrated experience in operational positions, and ability in managing P&L, effective client relationship management, cost management, forecasting and ability to present succinct reports to corporate management This opportunity is well suited to a dynamic and ambitious leaders, department managers, unit managers, and project directors , consistently looking to challenge the status quo and grow a business through a collaborative and relationship driven approach.
