Travel Associates Financial Controller



Travel Associates is a network of Bricks and Mortar Travel Agencies, both company owned and Franchised. We operate Australia wide and recently celebrated our 21 st Birthday. Our business is a part of the Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG).

The Financial Controller (FC) partners with the business to protect and grow the business and will be reporting to the Commercial Leader of the Premium Leisure Stream within the Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG). The FC has ownership of the Financial Reporting and Control within the Division, works across operational disciplines to understand and improve the business model, and consults with operational leaders in making decisions and executing strategy to move the business forward. This is a hands on role and the FC will ensure the timely completion of all processes, accounts and reports as well as manage the relationship between Travel Associates and our internal centralised Finance support teams like Finance operations, Risk, Payroll etc.

Additionally the role will support the Commercial Leader in Modelling, Policy Setting, Reporting and Analysis. Strategic and Operational: Support General Manager and Commercial Leader with operational and financial input Design management reports effectively capturing the key business indicators and evolving this with the business Support the Commercial Leader in developing business models which support sustainable profitable growth Conduct business reviews identifying productivity improvement opportunities Challenge and Support the Leadership Team in key initiatives Support business improvement projects Continually review all aspects of the business to ensure profit maximisation Strong Financial control within the operations Financial Integrity and Reporting: Responsible for the preparation of all management and financial reporting Responsible for the financial systems and data integrity Co-ordination of forecast and budget processes Financial control across all areas of the business including financial result, audit processes Monitor and reduce risk across all areas of the brand Focus on cost saving initiatives Work with our centralised teams to ensure front end sales staff queries are resolved and our financial results are accurate and timely. People: Conduct one on ones with direct reports Ensure KPI’s and remuneration are set in accordance with finance KPI system and salary guidelines Assist with the technical, personal and leadership development of finance staff and operational leaders within the brand Facilitate career planning processes Provide leadership and direction to the finance team Responsible for the recruitment of new staff and developing team members Key Relationships: Commercial Leader Premium Travel Travel Associates Leadership Group Travel Associates Finance Travel Associates Support businesses like Marketing, IT, Recruitment, L&D & Product.
