Position Summary Peninsula Health currently has an opportunity for a Senior Social Worker (Alcohol and Other Drugs) within the Frankston and Mornington Drug and Alcohol Service (FaMDAS). This position sits within Peninsula Health’s (PH) Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Program and is based at Frankston; however, some travel to other sites may be necessary. The position involves providing intake, assessment, treatment planning and counselling to people accessing AOD services within Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula areas, as well as family members and significant others.

The Senior AOD Clinician provides evidence-based interventions including brief interventions, facilitation of referrals to more appropriate community services, comprehensive assessment utilising evidence-based tools and evidence-based psychotherapeutic counselling. In doing so the Senior AOD Clinician is required to demonstrate clinically meaningful progress towards client-centred goals, including: reduced use of AOD, reductions in AOD-related harms, improved quality of life and improved mental wellbeing. This position will involve providing services to forensic clients referred through the justice system.

The position also involves providing clinical guidance and support, management of risk and allocation of clients to clinical staff depending on their treatment needs. The role involves the provision of discipline-specific clinical supervision to other clinical staff within PH AOD Program. Senior Clinicians will also participate in the delivery of groups, including the drink and drug driver programs.
