Position Description Position Aquatic Therapy Assistant Division Allied Health Services Responsible to Aquatic Physiotherapy Coordinator Award St Giles Allied Health Agreement 2014 Remuneration will depend on experience and or qualifications as an Allied Health Assestant or equivalent Function To provide assistance to the Aquatic Physiotherapist and other Allied Health Staff in the provision of high quality therapy services to clients of the St Giles Hydrotherapy pool Primary Tasks Assist and supervise clients with their therapy programs under the supervision and or direction of the Aquatic Physiotherapist This may be from the pool deck or in the pool itself Assist clients on the pool deck as required Assist clients with minor dressing undressing tasks such as helping with shoes and socks Orientation of new clients to the Hydrotherapy facilities Use of the pool hoist to assist clients in and out of the pool Booking of clients for pool sessions Supervision of the pool area in respect to client safety General Pool maintenance and monitoring Equipment usage maintenance monitoring and cleaning Assist with administrative tasks Client documentation and recording of attendance Undertake all tasks within the Occupational Health and Safety and Quality Management Systems of the Society Level of Responsibility Responsible for working within the established framework of policies and procedures of St Giles Society and those specific to the Aquatic Therapy service High level of confidentiality necessary for handling sensitive information documents and issues Discretion and decision making in selecting the most appropriate method to achieve required outcomes is expected and encouraged 1 Responsible for achieving set outcomes under routine supervision Choices are made based on established written or verbal guidelines instructions Direction Supervision received Accountable to and work under the general supervision of the Aquatic Physiotherapy Coordinator Overarching accountability to the Director of Clinical Innovation and Enhancement A Probationary Performance Review to be conducted prior to six months service Knowledge and Skills Essential Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with therapists and clients within the range of duties and responsibilities Effective time management skills Proven capacity to manage time prioritize competing demands and work independently Proficient computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook Demonstrated initiative and adaptability including problem solving skills and an ability to work effectively in an environment subject to work pressures and change Proven capacity to respond effectively to various situations and to exercise judgement and discretion High level of self motivation and initiative The capacity and willingness to work as part of a team Ability to establish a rapport with colleagues clients carers parents and community agencies and create a friendly and helpful working environme.
