This hands-on leadership role provides challenge and variety in a demanding production environment.
The company specialises in the development, manufacture and marketing of innovative, specialty chemical solutions. They are part of an international chemical group providing unique, specialty chemical products for the USA, Europe, the Middle-East, Africa, Asia, and New Zealand markets. Based in Western Sydney you will report to the Australian Operations Manager and co-ordinate the production, maintenance and laboratory groups to facilitate the safe, smooth and efficient operation of the plant.
Specifically, you will; Supervise the day to day running of the plant - monitoring plant performance, working with supply chain, operations and maintenance, to establish priorities. Engage with and lead the autonomous shift teams by using your influencing skills. Be customer focussed and flexible to ensure the company's excellent supply record is maintained.
Through active management of training and development ensure that the teams have the right mix of competencies to cover absences and succession planning. In due course deputise for the Operations Manager in their absence in all operational matters. Your referees can attest to your motivation, resilience and ability to get things done through others and you have: Demonstrated experience as an operations supervisor or manager in a chemical manufacturing environment or related area such as paint, ink, plastics.
Proven experience leading, developing, managing operational personnel. Advanced communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal) and sound computer skills, specifically MS Word and Excel, knowledge of CMMS. Proven ability to manage and improve appropriate safety systems and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to effectively solve operational problems, especially those of a process nature; and Well-developed negotiation, time management and organisational skills. Ideally possessing a tertiary qualification in engineering or applied science you have relevant experience in a chemical processing environment.
