Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. Director of Gastroenterology Applications are sought for a full time Director of Gastroenterology position at Austin Health, one of Victoriaâ€™s largest public healthcare providers.
We are looking for an exceptional leader who has a strong clinical background and a proven ability to operationally support the provision of all clinical and academic activities related to the discipline of Gastroenterology. The Gastroenterology Unit is part of the Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine Division (SAPM) and is responsible for the provision of services within the specialty to patients across Austin Health. The Director of Gastroenterology, in collaboration with the Divisional Management Team, leads all strategic and operational facets of the service to ensure the efficient management of resources and effective provision of patient centred services within a complex and dynamic health service.
As a member of the Senior Medical Staff (SMS) Leadership Group and Operations Directorate leadership team, the role of Director is to provide professional leadership and promote excellence in clinical care, research and teaching in the field of Gastroenterology within a whole of organisation context. The appointee will report to the Divisional Medical Director and the Divisional Director of the Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine (SAPM) Division to realise the delivery of contemporary, innovative and patient focused care within the health system. Emergency and inpatient services are based at Austin Hospital while outpatient services and endoscopy are based on the Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.
In addition, a consultative service is provided for other units within the Medical Centre. The Unit maintains an ongoing commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. You will have to be eligible for full medical registration in Victoria and hold a fellowship of The Royal College of Physicians.
