About our team Liberty Primary Steel, a member of GFG Alliance, operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400km from Adelaide.

About the role As part of the Central Engineering Lead Team and working closely with the plant Maintenance Managers, the Shutdown Manger is responsible for continuous improvement and application of the Liberty Primary Steel Shutdown Management Framework. Through application of the Shutdown Management Framework, the role is responsible for the Planning, Scheduling, Execution and Close out of plant shutdowns across the facility. With an overriding commitment to safety performance and improvement, the role is responsible for facilitating all readiness activities and execution to ensure that shutdowns are delivered in line with safety, duration, quality and cost key performance indicators.

Working closely with the Reliability and Planning Manager, the Shutdown Manager is responsible for building corporate knowledge of the asset strategy based shutdown drivers and implementing improvement opportunities to optimise the shutdown cycles and durations. As owner of the plant maintenance calendar, the role is responsible for the governance of the consolidated plant calendar to ensure optimised scheduling of shutdowns based on shutdown asset strategy drivers and resource management. About your experience Our ideal candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification in a mechanical or electrical discipline (at least Associate Diploma level).

We will also consider those candidates who come from strong trades backgrounds with experience around running processes and systems. You will also have; Experience in reporting readiness progress and management reporting Demonstrated understanding and focus on understanding shutdown drivers and critical path identification and minimisation Demonstrated experience and a focus on people and defining/ applying robust process to achieve superior results Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning and leadership within heavy industry Sound understanding of manufacturing methodologies and improvement processes Producing and managing budgets Demonstrated experience in shutdown and/or maintenance management within heavy industry The Shutdown Manager must exhibit superior leadership qualities to allow him/her to: Extract high performance from other key shutdown personnel Enable effective teamwork Be an excellent communicator Next step.
