A bit about your role An exciting opportunity has opened with nbn to join the team as a Lead Delivery Engineer (LDE) which reports directly to our Software Engineering Manager. You will be joining a well-established team that is responsible for delivering and supporting IT changes related to an in-house, business-critical application.
As the LDE, you will create and maintain an inclusive and high-performing culture, where agile software engineering practices are adopted and continue to evolve alongside industry standards. You will effectively mentor a team to ensure continuous and efficient delivery of high-quality products and services to all stakeholders. The Delivery Team, which is managed by the LDE, sits within a larger Service Team of about 50-120 people.
The Service Team is usually comprised of multiple Delivery Teams, which continually deliver ongoing IT change support, related to a unique set of business processes within the enterprise. Some of the key relationships will be with other senior roles in the Delivery Team such as the Product Owner, the Iteration Lead/Manager, the wider Engineering teams, and the Architecture teams. A bit about you The Lead Delivery Engineer is a high-profile position with significant delivery and support responsibilities, strong technical expertise and platform management skills.
The ideal candidate will have strong Engineering, DevOps, Continuous Integration / Deployment, Test Automation practice, and people leadership skills, to support a small team of Software Engineers. The LDE role will require a strong technical and people leader, who will work closely with the Software Engineering Manager to recruit, organise and inspire everyone in the team. As a key contributor to a high-performing culture, you will be a fearless and energetic member of the team, who takes risks and delivers against commitments.
Possessing a curious mind for cutting-edge technologies and Engineering best practices, you will share your knowledge within the team, and the wider business, to promote innovation and technical best practices. As the LDE, you will have a passion to develop additional skills, which in turn, will reflect on your team's success. The Lead Delivery Engineer is required to be an expert in all domain, technical requirements, and have overall architectural foresight for all systems and applications: Providing both technical and operational leadership, with direct accountability for implementation of engineering applications.
