Post Graduate Cardiac Course Student
An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic and highly motivated nurses to undertake a Master of Nursing Practice- Cardiac Care in our Cardiac and Thoracic Unit You will be employed part time (0.8 EFT) in the Cardiac and Thoracic Unit for the duration of the Graduate Certificate. On completion of the post graduate course, ongoing employment within Austin Health is guaranteed.
Austin Health works in collaboration with Deakin University to deliver the Master of Nursing Practice- Cardiac Care. The Graduate Certificate consists of four (4) subjects specific to cardiac care. At Austin Health we follow a best practice clinical learning environment philosophy and as such deliver education using contemporary teaching modalities with an emphasis on experiential learning with a particular focus on bedside teaching and learning.
Subjects are assessed from both theoretical and clinical perspectives. The Graduate Certificate Program will be undertaken over a 12 month period. Position Requirement: Registered Nurse registered with AHPRA Essential for Performance of the Position A commitment to Austin Health values.
At least I year experience in relevant clinical area Demonstrated commitment to cardiac nursing Ability to communicate effectively on both written and verbal form. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, Commitment to further self-development and education. Ability to meet academic and clinical standards Well-developed interpersonal and team skills Demonstrated ability to problem solve Desirable but not essential: A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems, applications relevant to the Management of rostering and risk management reporting or as required for the role and/or department.
Knowledge of legal/ethical requirements and professional standards Patient centred approach to care delivery Commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety. The Cardiac & Thoracic Unit at Austin Health provides a broad range of services including: an extensive cardiology service, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery.
