Educational Work with children and Families Dubbo, NSW About the opportunity This role is responsible for the provision of Early Childhood education and to support families and children attending Uniting (Aboriginal) Supported Playgroups, to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal children. You will work closely with the local Aboriginal Community to develop and facilitate referral pathways for Aboriginal Families. This is an Aboriginal Identified role.

Having an understanding of your local community and key Aboriginal stakeholders in your community is essential Key Responsibilities: Work with Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal families in the Aboriginal Families Together Project to provide stimulating, educational and culturally safe programs for children. Facilitate and support the delivery of Supported Playgroups and Aboriginal specific supported playgroups. Monitor the needs of playgroup resources including the purchasing and care of all culturally appropriate resources.

Provide accurate observation documents. Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and immediately take appropriate action in line with Uniting Communities policies and the Mandatory Reporting Guidelines where the safety of the child or young person is at risk. About You Qualification in Early Childhood and/or demonstrated relevant work experience with families or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience working with and understanding of children with special needs, from birth to 12 years, in terms of screening, assessment, planning and implanting relevant behaviour management strategies and appropriate referral to other community services. Knowledge of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required. Ability to provide stimulating and educational play environment for the health physical, emotional and cognitive development of children aged from birth to five years.
