About the Role We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with a keen interest or experience in Breast Care Nursing for our assessment clinic.
The nurse counsellor is responsible for assisting with diagnostic procedures, providing brief counselling and support to women and their significant others, and booking women into clinics. The nurse counsellor will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate the smooth flow of assessment clinics, by communicating effectively with all members of the assessment team. You must have highly developed interpersonal, communication skills with the ability to work effectively and with the multidisciplinary team.
You must be committed to your own professional development. Classifications for this position will range from YP2 - YP11 ($31.27 - $44.
17 per hour) Duties Booking of assessment clinic appointments and facilitates the smooth flow of assessment clinics. Provide relevant information to assist the women in understanding the recall and assessment process, to help them make informed choices, and to assist them in decision making concerning their care. Obtain informed and written consent from clients prior to assessment, with the use of interpreters as requested.
Assist with clinical procedures (eg. fine needle aspiration, ultrasound, and stereotactic core biopsies). Communicates effectively with the team, senior staff, and management to keep staff informed about matters pertaining to the teamâ€™s functioning.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of AHPRA as a Registered Nurse Division 1 Knowledge of issues associated with screening, assessment and a diagnosis of breast cancer. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team. Experience and competency in supportive and brief counselling interventions.
