Position summary Due to a critical review of the long-term business strategy for our site, we are taking the opportunity to realign our organisational structure to ensure that we can be more effective in meeting the current and emerging challenges of our business environment.
This has created opportunities for a Production Manager to join the team with a key focus on People, Leadership, Safety and Production. This integral leadership position will liaise with key stake holders to plan, organise, direct and control workflow through the nominated area of responsibility to ensure compliance with all manufacturing, design and customer specifications within required schedule due dates in a safe and efficient manner. The role will have a clear people management focus and will report directly into the Operations Manager.
Each Manager will have teams to manage and be accountable for on a daily basis. The team will include Team Leads, Trade and Non Tradespeople. Key responsibilities include: Creating a culture that fosters a safe, purposeful and inspiring working environment.
Develop teams to build strong skills and talent for performance. Champion a culture of Zero Harm ensuring the right skills, resources, systems, processes and behaviours are supported. Ensure that work is performed in a manner that all rail vehicles and sub-components issued by the workshop conform to both Downer and contracted standards Ensure that all checklists and quality documentation relating to the overhaul or manufacturing requirements is completed as required Ensure work packs are available and communicate with leading hand to ensure information is supplied to workers as required.
Organise in shop storage of components and sub-assemblies such that they are available in good condition for scheduled production activities To be successful in the role you will need: To be an engaging people leader, with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills To lead with a positive attitude and integrity, utilising your strong communication skills Five years trade experience with experience as a Leading Hand or similar role in a medium to heavy rail engineering facility Experience in a Fabrication Workshop environment and or general Engineering industry Comprehensive experience and technica....
