EL1 Senior Pharmacist
We have a new Senior Pharmacist position for a federal government department. This is a new position due to the ever increasing volume of Special Access Scheme (SAS) applications received for medicinal cannabis and the associated increase in email and phone enquiries, policy and project work for SAS. It is proposed that this person would take on the other non-delegation work to back-fill delegates completing approvals.
Specific duties include: Managing the pharmacist/medical officer SAS approval roster Answering complex phone and email enquiries A review and update of the medicinal cannabis and SAS website information Other project work as required Key Responsibilities Include: Preparing a range of high level written correspondence in relation to the regulation of unapproved therapeutic goods including correspondence with stakeholders, guidelines, briefs, reports, scientific and/or technical documentation and policy papers; Assisting with the provision of expert advice to, and consultation with, internal and external stakeholders on policy, programme and legislative issues regarding SAS and Clinical Trials, including preparing meeting papers; Provide high level professional advice and prepare correspondence on the regulation of unapproved therapeutic goods to stakeholders Contribute to the development of business improvement activities and policies Negotiate and liaise with, and provide specialist advice to, Departmental management on topical matters relating to unapproved access to therapeutic goods, and to healthcare professionals and members of the public. Provision of written and verbal advice regarding use of unapproved therapeutic goods including via an email inbox and answering the information line with respect to prescription medicines; Liaising, engaging and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex and/or sensitive issues in relation to compliance with legislation, regulations and standards; Representing the department in relation to activities of the Section at cross agency meetings, conferences and other forums Contributing to the strategic planning for the Section and proposing and facilitating improvements in performance standards and business processes to better deliver outcomes for the Section; and Contributing to team goals and broader organisational objectives by undertaking other tasks as required. Requirements for the position: A degree in pharmacy from an Australian tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification Registration as a practicing pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
