Introduction Your Role and Responsibilities Full Stack Software Engineer Researcher- Melbourne - Melbourne Based - Offered on a permanent regular employment basis or on a fixed term 24 months basis - Compensation package from $89,250 (full-time equivalent inclusive of superannuation) and will be determined based on successful candidates’ relevant skills and experience. IBM Research - Australia is a vibrant and relatively young community within IBM Research. The lab is primarily an industry solutions lab that focuses on conceiving, designing and building next generation systems that will transform healthcare and life sciences, energy and financial services industries. The Software Engineer is a technical professional that participates in design, test, development, and/or support of IBM Research projects and works with IBM product groups.

The Software Engineer (SWE) provides technical input for the creation or modification of project components. Decisions affect success of the project or significant portions of larger projects and have impact on research success, financial performance, image, schedules and customer satisfaction. The Software Engineering role is the first level with significant independent decision responsibility and accountability and may have leadership responsibilities.

In this role you will: Work closely with researchers to conceive, design, build, test and deploy full-stack software solutions Contribute or lead project planning activities Understand, efficiently execute and recommend new approaches to existing software development processes and procedures Be responsible for accurate and thorough documentation of software components Propose innovative solutions to problems, leading to patents, publications or products Learn new tools and technologies rapidly as required Essential requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related technical field Experience in full-stack web development (web front-end, back-end, NoSQL databases etc.) Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Go or Python Proficiency with JavaScript (ES6), HTML 5 and CSS 3 Experience architecting modular front-end systems (e.g.

ReactJS, VueJS) Experience in UI design and good knowledge of user experience fundamentals Preferred requirements: Experience working within Agile teams and a DevOps culture Experience working with NoSQL Databases (e.g. CouchDb, MongoDB) Experience working on web data visualization technologies (e.
