Visiting Medical Officer - General Surgery (Breast Surgeon)

There are many local cultural activities and only 55 minutes from the extensive facilities of Melbourne, the State capital. About the role The Barwon Health Breast Unit is comprised of 4 oncoplastic breast surgeons with a current caseload of approximately 150 cancer patients per year.
The Unit collaborates extensively with Oncologists and Plastic surgeons, as well as the Radiology and Pathology departments through weekly multidisciplinary meetings. Supporting the Unit is a Breast Fellow accredited through BreastSurgANZ, and a senior registrar with 2 interns. Through the hospital Oncology service, the unit takes part in clinical trials research.
There is also the opportunity of clinical research within the unit, but also collaborative research with Deakin University. The successful applicant will have completed Oncoplastic Breast Surgical training and be comfortable doing Level 2 and 3 procedures. They will be required to take part in the General Surgical On-Call roster and to maintain general surgical skills.
