Senior Automotive dimensional engineer



The Senior Dimensional Systems Engineer will be the lead VSA modeler for Body Engineering, creating and coordinating all sheet metal sub-assembly DVA model builds and special exterior trim projects and leading all training activities to up-skill local engineering team members in VSA modelling and DVA best practices. The purpose of this role is to work with the cross functional teams to deliver dimensional systems analysis on key critical interfaces to improve perceived fit and finish execution on future vehicle developments. Key Roles and Responsibilities The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: · Construct rigid and flexible DVA models utilizing Siemens VSA software · Interrogate engineering design and advise on best practice for rigid body DVA model setup · Create pre-GD&T sheets from flexible model output as well as D&R and supplier input · Gather pre-GD&T information from cross functional teams, develop and publish via Teamcentre Engineering · Identify root cause of dimensional system problems in models due to excessive variation in early design stages · Coordinate and plan for RSS/DVA and early theme selection studies · Provide vehicle level DVA modelers with all required information and check result of the DVA studies and understand contributors · Coordinate and prioritize “What If” studies and recommend solution · Create training plans, train and shadow local engineers in DVA model creation · Work with global counterparts to ensure standardized procedures and tools are utilized and innovative ideas are shared within the cooperation.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications · Engineering degree required (Bachelor Degree or equivalent) · 10 years Siemens Vis VSA modelling skills for automotive applications · Expert knowledge in GD&T and DVA modelling · Fully capable to create Flex-DVA models incorporating FEA mesh properties, simulating tooling constraints, welding & spring back · Demonstrated knowledge of Siemens Teamcentre Engineering (TCE) · Demonstrated experience leading engineers and suppliers through resolution of dimensional systems issues · Strong technical and problem solving skills · Strong understanding of Automotive body exterior part manufacturing & design, covering both plastic and sheet metal components and systems · Expert knowledge in automotive part fixturing and gauging · Ability to lead and work with a local and regional cross functional teams · Advanced project management skills · Sound interpersonal and communication skills, confident in clearly articulating complex issue resolution · Excellent presentation skills, able to present in front of key business leaders Job open date: 21/08/2019 Job close: 23/09/2019 Job Type: Full-time.
