We are seeking Industrial Measurement and Control Technicians and Mechanical Engineering Technicians to join our dedicated teams in Smeaton (Ballarat), Victoria and Wagin, Western Australia. These permanent full time roles operate on a 24/7 shift.

Reporting to the Oat Mill Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and adjusting the milling equipment for our Oat Mill, Flaking Mill and Stockfeed Pellet Mill. Our equipment if predominately Bühler, however we also use Streckel & Schrader, Cimbria, Petkus Satake and Westrup, Esse Gi and Andritz equipment. Production is monitored via the use of WinCos, Supervising Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Your main duties will include: Applying your knowledge to operate the PLCs and maintain the milling equipment Interpreting PLC data for management production reports on a daily basis Adjusting milling equipment, where required, based on the PLC data observed Physically examining and testing the milling equipment to diagnose issues impacting production and subsequently proposing adjustments or modifications to the milling equipment to rectify any issues Advising other staff members on correct operating procedures to ensure the milling equipment is operating efficiently and effectively Working with the on-site Maintenance teams to repair and replace worn and defective parts of the milling equipment and then to subsequently test operate the repaired equipment Working with Management and the Quality Managers to ensure the milling equipment's production is compliant with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and our Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan as well as organic, Halal and Kosher certification Technicians must be physically fit to cope with the numerous stairs within the Mill and must be able to work in dusty environments. To be successful in this position the following is desirable : 3 years relevant experience with the milling equipment and PLCs used on either site, preferably gained from working in a grain mill A formal qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering Excellent knowledge of SQF and HACCP programs Strong computer skills Excellent communication and relationship building skills A current Drivers Licence and your own reliable transport A strong commitment to a safe working environment A remuneration package of $53,000 to $62,000 will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
