Assistant Manager, Esperance, WA (Ref 153004)
A progressive and emergent broadacre farming enterprise, cropping 3750ha over two properties based 50 kilometres NE of Esperance, and a West River property located 35 kilometres west of Ravensthorpe. You will be part of an enterprise that cultivates a supportive working environment, with a commitment to progressive farming and working structures that enable work life balance and flexibility over the annual cycle. Accountabilities: Provide people and operational leadership with a focus on overseeing all day to day responsibilities of the enterprise and implementation of the annual cropping program and induction, training and oversight of casual staff.
Large scale machinery operation of broadacre faming equipment. Maintain a variety of record keeping across rainfall, paddock, plant and machinery. Work in strong collaboration with the Farm Owner and permanent farmhand to ensure the overall high performance and smooth running of the farm.
Act as the 2IC of the enterprise during farm owner’s absence and undertake applicable duties as required. Uphold the Occupational Health and Safety requirements in the day to day running of the farm. Undertake post seeding and harvest reviews.
Undertake general maintenance of all machinery and infrastructure. Essential Skills and Experience: Extensive knowledge and experience of broadacre cropping operations. Experience with a similar role with leadership responsibilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of agricultural chemicals and applications (Chemical Certificate). Demonstarte an understanding of controlled traffic farming. Farm management software proficiency.
Minimum 5 years&39; machinery operation and maintenance, with demonstrated mechanical skills. MC License (minimum 6 months HR experience with a desire to gain MC). Personal Attributes: Natural ability to positively contribute to the overall team effectiveness, fostering a strong team culture.
You will need to be able to maintain focus and self-manage, think strategically, have problem solving abilities, and be able to demonstrate initiative and drive. Excellent communication skills with the ability for application in leadership context in order to build cohesive working relationships. Ability to make appropriate and informed decisions.
Non-smokers preferred. What&39;s on offer: Very competitive salary package of up to $100,000pa (negotiated, dependent on relevant skills and experience). Use of work vehicle on farm and limited local use.
