Our client is an independently-owned Australian engineering company, specialising in the manufacture, assembly, and testing of fully-integrated aerospace and naval defence parts. Their modern manufacturing and administration facility in Brisbane ensures that they can confidently claim to be an employer of choice in their industry. At this time we are seeking to employ a professional Purchasing Officer to manage all of the local and international procurement activities associated with the supply chain for the business.
On a daily basis your duties will include, but not be limited to the following functions and responsibilities: Being responsible for product cost optimisation and order management process across the business. Obtaining and comparing quotes from local and overseas suppliers. Ensuring that procurement financial targets and objectives are met.
Liaising with the relevant internal departments to identify demand requirements for product purchases on a regular basis. Establishing and monitoring Min/Max stock positions for all SKUs in line with production forecasts and requirements. Raising purchase orders and liaison with local and overseas suppliers.
Responsible for regular reporting and advice to management on stock status & availability. Working with Logistics, Warehouse and Sales Managers to ensure stock requirements are on time. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate most or all of the following selection requirements: Min 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
Experience with sourcing products both locally and internationally. Excellent numerical and analytical skills Able to problem solve, multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently Accurate and precise attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft office suite and SAP systems Ideally you have previously worked in an Engineering, or similarly based, heavy industry or mining type business. Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline would be highly regarded.
