Livestock Manager



- Modern, large scale Merino enterprise - Reporting directly to the family board Company This family owned and operated mixed farming enterprise prides itself on its modern and efficient 12,000ha cropping program along with its thriving 21,000 head, high quality Merino wool and prime lamb operation. As the business continues through a substantial growth phase a position has become available for an experienced Livestock Manager to take charge of the Livestock portion of the enterprise and help the business continue on its upward trajectory. Position The primary objective of the Livestock Manager will be to operate a high performing, large scale Merino and prime lamb enterprise.

The Livestock Manager will be in charge of day to day operation in a hands-on capacity, effectively managing and leading a team whilst also constantly improving the business’ livestock systems. Key Responsibilities Contribute to enterprise budgeting and be held accountable for the commercial performance of the livestock enterprise Monitor pastures and record growth and stock movements in paddock diary to help plan stock rotations and feed budgets Supervise and operate key farm machinery including tractors, loaders, seeder, header, sprayers, motorbikes, mowers and other general plant equipment Manage and supervise staff with close attention to WHS compliance Maintain clear lines of communication within the team and to the Board at all times Skills and Experience 5 years’ experience in a management position in a merino and prime lamb operation Experience in effectively leading, managing and developing individuals and teams Experience with day to day operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery Strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced observation skills and attention to detail in monitoring stock health Demonstrated experience with sheep husbandry and the use of veterinary products (including drenches and vaccines) Qualifications Tertiary qualifications relating to agriculture or farm management are desirable Current unrestricted car and motorbike license are essential (HR licence desirable) Remuneration An attractive remuneration package, inclusive of a comfortable 5 bedroom family home, will be negotiated to reflect skills and experience.
