Are you great with kids? Do you have a passion for helping young people reach their potential? Can you provide stability and guidance? If so, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for nurturing types, mentors who can show kids how to win at life. If you don't have formal qualifications, but love and have experience working with youth - be it teaching, coaching, caring - we'll consider it.

About Connecting Families Connecting Families is a community services organization founded in 2013 to attend to millions of Australians annually, arranging assistance, support and counsel for families in need. Our entire team is committed to meeting the needs of all the families we assist and support. The position We are seeking Mentors who can give a young person leadership and companionship to young people (between the ages of 8 and 18).

We are looking for the big brother/big sister types, to lend a helping hand and to help guide and teach kids how to succeed in life. Duties include: - Meeting Mentee's (clients) on a weekly basis - Target certain aspects of mentee's development - Work closely with key people/agencies to facilitate activities for the mentee - Be a role model - Improve self esteem and confidence of mentee - Written reports on activities and progress Activities may include: - Sports - Camping activities - Teaching practical skills e.g.

car maintenance - Counselling and life coaching Before making any match, Connecting Families will consider location, interests, skills, background, knowledge and temperament of both the mentee and the Mentor. Requirements/Qualifications: - Car and NSW Driver's Licence - Working with Children's check - National Police check. - Certificate 4 in Youth Work or equivalent Experience in teaching, human services or related fields is helpful.

Experience as a parent or extensive experience with young people is also helpful. The Mentor should have the ability to accept and relate to youth who may not share the mentor's lifestyle and values. The Mentor should respect the mentee's right to self-determination and independence.

This respect is an essential element in the relationship. The Mentor should exhibit a great deal of common sense, intelligence, friendliness, maturity, sensitivity and responsibility. Availabilities: Weekdays in the afternoon and weekends, school holidays.
