The Assistant Restaurant Manager is crucial to running their Fonda casa. They share the vision and purpose of Fonda to lead and inspire their team of Fondarians in an effort to bring people together to genuinely connect. They hold everyone accountable to treating guests as if they were guests in their own home.

WHO IS FONDA? In Mexico, ‘Fonda’ is a home that is opened up as a restaurant to the local community. We offer a delicious, fresh Mexican inspired menu that is always served with a side fun and good vibes in a well-designed space. Fonda was founded in Melbourne, Victoria in 2011 by two mates - Tim McDonald and Dave Youl.

Tim was a lawyer and Dave was a fireman when they both set off to Mexico to develop the concept and get inspiration all over Mexico. The vision was to develop a menu of Mexican street food dishes designed to share, utilising the quality, freshness, and variety of Australian produce. However, the vision for Fonda extended beyond the menu.

After a series of negative experiences working in some undesirable workplaces, Tim and Dave were committed to building a hospitality team with a positive and engaging culture. Our internal values are at the core of every decision, and our people are listened to, respected and supported in their growth and development. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING? Leading from the front by running shift during the busiest services.

Recruiting, training and building a culture of high performance within your team of Fondarians. Helping to manage Fondarian performance through performance reviews, feedback and coaching, creating a culture of accountability. Developing opportunities to maximise guest experience and sales, working with Marketing, Operations and HR to grow the Fonda brand.

Managing the operations of the restaurant including food safety, inventory, rostering, maintenance and more. Requirements Guest Focus: You are completely obsessed with delivering an exceptional guest experience. You pride yourself on your ability to genuinely connect with people and make them feel welcome in your presence.

You treat guests like they are friends or family visiting your home. Action Oriented: You are positive and solutions focused and enjoy working hard. You thrive under pressure all the while earning and keeping the respect of the team and peers.

You have an engaging and effective way of communicating and have the attitude that nothing is beneath you or anyone else in the team. Approachability: You have a contagious zest for life, a genuine love for making people happy and live for the high of working in a busy environment. Customer service is in your blood and you are a natural people leader with experience working in fast-paced environments.
