Learning Centre Coordinator - Lajamanu
The Learning Community Centre Program aims to promote life-long learning by providing education and training opportunities for community members to improve their employment opportunities and life skills as well as consolidating foundation skills including core numeracy and literacy skills required for further education and training. The Learning Centre Coordinator will be responsible for working with the community to design and implement a community learning and training plan. The plan will provide for learning across the continuum from engagement with informal and opportunistic learning experiences through to structured and accredited learning programs aligned to enterprise and employment opportunities in the community, as well as language and culture projects and activities.
The Position will also work with individuals to document their learning histories and interests and develop achievable, documented and where appropriate accredited learning pathways. The Learning Centre Coordinator will be responsible for delivering training directly where possible, liaising with Batchelor Institute staff and other RTO’s to deliver training, liaising with other organisations to provide informal learning opportunities and supervising and supporting the community to develop foundation skills including the use the computer, internet and library facilities on a daily basis. The position will work closely with a trainee Local Coordinator to mentor and support them to gain the skills required to eventually manage and coordinate the Learning Centre.
The position will work collaboratively with many local stakeholders for the benefit of community learning and training. Particular key stakeholders include community elders, the local learning centre advisory group and organisations such as CDP and the Warlpiri Youth Development Aboriginal Corporation.
