Newly opened, permanent position within a southern based, inner-city council's Community Development team Your new company A renowned government organisation in Melbourne South East are looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Policy Officer to join their Community Development team. Your new role Working as a Senior Health & Safety Policy Officer you will be tasked with; Acting as an effective conduit between the Council's directives / strategies and community safety needs Creating partnerships and projects to engage with community stakeholders on safety matters and concerns working with the Community Strengthening team towards design based incentives to creating a safer community Working towards the directive of the Municipal Public Health & Wellbeing plan Regularly conducting community consultations, safety audits, data analysis and research Advise on the application of social justice, health promotion, Safer Cities Guidelines What you'll need to succeed In order to be a successful applicant for this role you will have the following; Relevant experience or tertiary qualification in community engagement, health promotion or community safety High level understanding of effective community safety approaches, harm minimisation strategies, drug and alcohol policy, crime prevention or health promotion Proven stakeholder engagement skills able to convey relevant information in order to educate groups with differing levels of understanding on the matters of safety Computer literacy, Microsoft suite, along with the ability to effectively harness internet and social media channels Ability to work effectively in an antonymous capacity, whilst being capable of engaging with wider Community Development team when required What you'll get in return As a successful Senior Health and Safety Policy Officer you will have the opportunity to impart a true, tangible impact on the matters of social health and safety in the prestigious inner south eastern area of Melbourne.
