Community Engagement Officer
The Community Engagement Officer (AO5) supports the work of the Wet Tropics Management Authority by promoting the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program through a range of community engagement, education and communications activities. The Community Engagement Officer (AO5) will conceptualise and define communication and engagement strategies and be responsible for delivering a range of multi-media services, print and digital communication products, including writing and contributing to media releases about the Authority's Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program. The appointee will have exceptional interpersonal skills and a creative flare that captures the attention of, and enthuses community groups, industry and the general public about yellow crazy ant management.
Specific responsibilities of a Senior Communications Officer (AO5) are outlined below: • Create strategies, opportunities and products to support community education, engagement and awareness of the Wet Tropics Management Authority and the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program. • Develop means to gather community feedback to gauge the Authority's effectiveness and progress towards goals in increasing community engagement and awareness (measure community awareness). • Prepare, provide advice on, and evaluate communication plans produced by the Authority and support implementation as required.
• Assist in the preparation of media releases and respond to requests for information from media, schools, government, industry and others about the Authority's Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program. • Support the design and development of engaging digital, print and other multi-media communication products. • Manage and monitor the Authority's Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program social media sites.
• Support team projects including initial planning, delivery, reporting and evaluation. • Assist in planning and monitoring project budgets and resource allocation as it relates to community engagement and communications for the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program. • Provide advice to management on project activities.
• Contribute to the development of oral and written reports and briefings. • Assist Project Manager with the development and review of communication content relevant to Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program activities, including reporting, project plans and correspondence. • Develop, maintain and monitor relationships with clients, stakeholders and service providers.
• Utilise IT and software tools to effectively perform associated tasks. Applications to remain current for 12 months..
