Further significant staffing additions are planned for 2019. The Facts: Sunshine Hospital delivers 500 babies a month . The current Special Care Nursery is buzzing with activities, caring for up to 24 babies every day.

Some of these babies may require CPAP or high dependency neonatal care. The current 25-bed Children's Ward provides medical and surgical care for children and adolescents. Over 26,000 children are seen in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Sunshine Hospital each year (with opening of the new hospital these numbers will rise).

The opportunities for training and learning in the Outpatient Setting are abundant with children attending Cardiology, Endocrinology, Adolescent Medicine, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, and General Surgical clinics .
