Assistant Director - Internal Communications
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of- Internal Communications to join the team within a Federal Government Agency based in Geelong. The Communications Branch provides communication solutions and advice to support the delivery a National scheme. The mission of the Communications Branch is to enhance the Agency's reputation and facilitate awareness of the Scheme through proactive engagement and by providing accurate, clear and accessible information to audiences in a timely manner.
The Role As an Assistant Director of Internal Communications, you will take the lead developing and delivering internal and external communication strategies for the Agency. You will provide strategic advice, develop communication plans, produce high-quality content and manage the delivery of content across a variety of channels. You may have responsibility for managing and motivating your team to produce high-quality content for a range of communication channels and a variety of audiences.
Responsibilities include Leading/contributing to the regular development, delivery and review of strategic communications content through established internal communication channels. Developing and managing the implementation, tracking and measurement of communications strategies, keeping them on time and within budget. Preparing high-quality, clear and accessible written content that meets the needs of participants and other audiences and aligns with the Agency's brand.
Scanning and interpreting a complex government and social landscape to identify and mitigate reputational risks associated with communication activities. Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external networks to facilitate development and delivery of effective, targeted and timely communication activities. Analysing communications outcomes and leading discussions within your team on how to build improvements into future activities.
Sharing knowledge to extend capability within the Communications Branch and build communication capacity in business areas. Fostering creativity and innovation in content creation across a range of channels, embedding best practice and new skills in your team. About you You will have demonstrated communications and engagement experience, strong negotiation, liaison and project management skills and superior communications and organisational skills.
In addition, you will present with: Extensive experience in the preparation and implementation of strategic communication plans. Exceptional written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with influence. Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to deliver clear and strategic advice, including to senior leaders.
Passionate about delivering best practice, inclusive and accessible communication. Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a high-performing team. The ability to develop and maintain a culture that promotes innovation.
