National Policy Manager
This position is located in Sydney at the NAPWHA offices, will be effective from October 2018, and will report to the Executive Director. Salary range: $90,000 – $110,000 p.a.
(incl. superannuation) for a 12-month term. NAPWHA also provides salary packaging and leave loading.
The National Policy Manager will support the Executive Director across a range of activities including implementing the organisation’s policy and program response according to the current NAPWHA Strategic Directions Plan; ensuring a prompt HIV policy response to emerging issues; ensuring consultation with NAPWHA networks, member organisations and external partners; and being responsible for some staff and administrative functions. BACKGROUND: The National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA) is the peak non-government organisation representing people living with HIV in Australia. NAPWHA provides advocacy, policy, education and outreach for people living with HIV.
NAPWHA works across the range of HIV healthcare and positive education initiatives to promote the highest quality standards of care for positive people, to develop and encourage appropriate clinical and social research into the causes and prevention of HIV, and to advocate on national HIV issues. The NAPWHA secretariat works under the direction of the Executive Director to progress issues prioritised through the NAPWHA Strategic Directions and the NAPWHA Board of Directors. Responsibilities: This position will report directly to the Executive Director, and will include the following responsibilities: Assist the Executive Director to implement NAPWHA’s policy & program response to the priority areas of the current NAPWHA Strategic Directions Plan.
Manage a number of projects in HIV health policy development, advocacy and strategy. Manage NAPWHA’s schedule of reporting to government, coordinating input across all levels of the organisation. Assist the Executive Director in the preparation and planning of NAPWHA general meetings and public events.
