au/jobs/116201-wadawurrung-traditional-owners-aboriginal-corporation/82812 Environment Protection Project Officer Full time 2-year project About Us Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) and was established in 1998. WTOAC is governed by a Board of Directors of Traditional Owners. Each Director represents a Family Group of the Wadawurrung People.

Its role is to protect and advance the aspirations of Wadawurrung People by managing their cultural heritage rights and interests, as well as supporting them in the achievement of the goals and aspirations as outlined in the Wadawurrung Country Plan. About the role This is an exciting new position and partnering with Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria. Some of the projects that will be taken will include investigate and monitor impacts to the waterways and river health form pollution & waste and identify cultural impacts from pollution events.

This role can be based either in our Ballarat or Geelong office however there will be travel required across Wadawurrung country and regular meetings with EPA Victoria. Key accountabilities will include: Work collaboratively with the WTOAC, the EPA and other stakeholders to support the inclusion of Traditional knowledge and cultural values across EPA’s regulatory work in environment protection. Participation in on-the-job learning, periodic reporting to EPA as per reporting requirements outlined in the agreement and Work Plan.

Comply with all legislative, policy and process obligations. Have you got: Sound knowledge in cultural value matters. Experience in Aboriginal Heritage Management.

Experience in identifying issues relating to the risk of harm from pollution and waste. Strong communication skills. Have a positive mindset and strong work ethic.
