THE ROLE This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced Environmental Approvals Officer to join the our Strategic Approvals team based in Brisbane on a contract role.

Reporting into the Environmental Approvals Lead , you’ll be responsible for Identifying and contributing to the delivery of primary project approvals and environmental approvals to enable exploration and production activities. Your responsibilities will include; Identify and deliver primary approvals (such as Qld Coordinator General, EPBC, Qld EP Act and Qld Offsets Act) required for exploration and production activities in accordance with project schedules Identify and progress improvements to business processes as they relate to securing primary project approvals Contribute to the identification of, and advocacy for, regulatory reform and practices to achieve IG business value (for example, driving simplification, standardisation and efficiency in meeting environmental approvals requirements) Support the review and documentation of environmental approvals portfolio risks and controls (including access delivery risks) Liaise with key environmental regulators and other external stakeholders to achieve environmental approvals portfolio objective Assist with offsets assessments, prepare offset management plans and monitor performance of offsets sites to ensure compliance with Project approvals Assist with ecological assessments including significant residual impacts assessments and development of decision making tools IS THIS YOU? You’ll need to be dynamic and team orientated with the ability to collaborate and influence. You will be comfortable with process improvement and prioritisation and have highly developed critical thinking skills.

To be considered you will have; Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as science, environmental science, environmental management or environmental engineering) Demonstrated high level knowledge and at least 5 years’ experience of either major project approvals (including EIS processes) or environmental approvals in the petroleum & gas, mining or heavy industry sector Demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders, develop productive relationships, negotiate and influence A high level of knowledge of the resource sector more broadly gained working either in industry or government is advantageous Origin - Where good change happens At Origin, we’re powered by people who believe in creating collective change.
