Working across multiple operating systems, Windows, Linux and Unix the Battlespace Technician is a critical role for ensuring the continued operation of the Battlespace Surveillance Centre (BSC) at the RAAF Edinburgh base. This includes managing and maintaining mission system services, performing day-to-day operational and administrative tasks, monitoring system availability and capacity, incident management, problem diagnoses and resolution, backups/patch management and cyber security while complying with change management procedures and working in a defence environment. The Battlespace Technician can look forward to the following essential elements in this exciting role: Provides the technical operations for BSC's complex IT server and communication solutions that comply with Raytheon and Defence technical standards and security policies Manages system accounts, permissions and directory operations and ensure service delivery staff have the necessary up-to-date information for account administration activities Provides the technical input into the development and maintenance of Disaster Recovery Plans & Business Continuity Plans for server and communication infrastructure Monitors system performance Manages software installation, configuration and updates for operating systems, firmware, and software applications including security updates as directed by configuration management authority Performs system and network configuration maintenance Manages backup and recovery protocols Installs and manages firewall and intrusion-detection monitoring systems Manages backup system to safeguard critical data collection Performs advanced troubleshooting and network problem resolution in coordination with maintainers Coordinates with and provides support for depot-level main.
