Click here to learn more about our Network Senior Research Officer – Global Health / Policy and Handbook Support National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) Located at Sydney Children’s Hospital Westmead The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Research Officer to join our global health team, with a particular focus on supporting the strengthening of immunisation policy decision-making and immunisation programs in the Indo-Pacific Region.

What is on offer? This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of immunisation programs globally, particularly in relation to – but not limited to – supporting immunisation policy decision-making in the Indo-Pacific region. Join a team of people who work collaboratively with Ministries of Health and other partners, with an empowering and health system strengthening approach, in areas such as vaccine policy decision-making; working with National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs); national immunisation program management and delivery; and operational research to inform national immunisation program improvement and vaccine policy decision-making. Work with a diverse, inclusive and talented team who are committed to improving health outcomes for all people.

  Your new role Support the planning, coordination (including internally, among relevant NCIRS teams such as the Policy and Handbook Support, Vaccine Safety and Global teams), management and technical delivery of an expanding area of work for NCIRS in supporting NITAG (or similar national technical advisory bodies) strengthening globally, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific region. Contribute to capacity building, particularly in the areas of evidence-informed decision-making, epidemiological skills and operational research (e.g.

, research methods, analysis, interpretation) with (i) relevant counterparts in countries in which NCIRS is undertaking collaborative work (e.g. with NITAG members in Indo-Pacific countries); and (ii) junior researchers and other relevant NCIRS staff members.

This role is likely to involve spending short periods of time (anticipated to be one to two weeks at a time, and up to 15 per cent of total time) working in low- and middle-income countries (e.g. by supporting workshops with NITAG members), particularly those in the Indo-Pacifi.
