Critical Infrastructure Solutions (CIS) primarily supplies, installs and supports microwave (6-80GHz) backhaul data radio systems and associated Network Management Software (NMS) applications. CIS has other technologies in its repertoire, including data networking analytics, optical networking, TDM, TV broadcast transmitter; together with the recent addition of 5G base station products. We now have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Communications Engineer to join our team.

The Communications Engineer Associate is an entry-level role and will work with IT specialists to support the NMS applications and Radio Frequency (RF) communications engineers using equipment specific knowledge to maintain equipment and software applications. The role also includes delivery of customer and internal projects. Key accountabilities: - Undertake training to become familiar with - NEC NMS applications - NEC microwave radio product lines, especially configuration aspects - Third party products sold and supported by CIS - Cloud computing - Provide customer support for the NEC NMS, NEC radio equipment and third-party products - Occasional site work for installation support and fault finding - Become proficient with test equipment, including spectrum analysers and data network testers - Support projects being undertaken by CIS; tasks include documentation and conduct of acceptance testing - Assist and participate in pre-sales activities for the CIS product catalogue Key skills and experience: - Degree in IT, Telecommunications or similar; with completed modules pertaining to data networking - Mechanical aptitude - Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to understand technical issues and clearly articulate solutions to clients - Ability to analyse problems and identify solutions - Completed education pertaining to RF (desirable) - Understand basic electronics theory (desirable) At NEC, we offer an outstanding working environment, fantastic corporate culture and an excellent track record of internal promotions along with continuous learning and development opportunities.
