NSW GovernmentEmployment Type: Temporary Full Time up to May 2024 Position Classification: Post Graduate Fellow Requisition ID: REQ376449 Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Post Graduate Fellow to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital We are looking for a Post Graduate Fellow in Clinical Toxicology. The primary purpose of the role is to provide a program of additional training to develop subspecialty interests in Clinical Toxicology and Pharmacology, and to further develop core clinical skills required in this area, including telephone-based risk assessment and management advice and bedside clinical care. This may allow the Fellow to pursue a career in clinical toxicology and work at a Poisons Information Centre.
The Post Graduate Fellow will have completed advanced training to become a specialist medical practitioner in Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine or Internal Medicine, or have completed specialist training in another discipline relevant to the Fellowship training program. The Post Graduate Fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Clinical Toxicology at the level of a Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within Drug Health Services and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and across Sydney Local Health District as required. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The Post Graduate Fellow in Clinical Toxicology will be based at Drug Health Services at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Drug Health Services offers comprehensive clinical services in addiction medicine, clinical toxicology and clinical pharmacology. The clinical toxicology service provides support to the Emergency Department and inpatient care for poisoning cases including overdoses, and this role will provide care across Sydney Local Health District.
The clinical pharmacology service provides tertiary inpatient services for patients with adverse drug reactions and drug toxicity and a quality use of medicine activities. Drug Health Services has extensive collaborations with other clinical services in Sydney Local Health District, and researchers in these fields. The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Royal Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, or College of Intensive Care Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
